Ridley Scott and Don O’Bannon’s 1979 “Alien” needs no introduction to sci-fi and horror fans. I still squirm whenever the crew sits down to Kane’s final meal. The film is lauded as much for its design elements as its perfectly paced story and suspense. HR Giger’s iconic alien often takes center stage, yet other contemporary designers, specifically Moebius, Chris Foss and Ron Cobb, made lasting contributions to the film’s spacecraft, hardware and set and costume design.
